Left to fend for herself, emaciated dog wandered the streets for a month

For nearly a month, a tiny terrier was forced to fend for herself. No one knows why she was wandering the streets of San Bernardino, California, but her hiding place may have been near a storm drain; neighbors had reported seeing her roaming the area and scavenging for food, however no one seemed to have been able to safely capture the stray.

On Sunday, Faith Easdale and the entire team from  Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue were there today to capture the pitiful little pup caught on video earlier in the day. Neighbors said the dog had been chased by cats and so scared, she just ran and ran. Volunteers set a humane trap with food in the direction the dog had fled, and it wasn’t long before this emaciated and defenseless dog’s life was saved.

The dog is not microchipped, and Dream Fetchers:Project Rescue have alerted surrounding shelters as well as Pawboost. (Alert for lost pets)

“She’s so thin it’s heartbreaking and her mats are horrific,” Faith Easdale stated. “She kept eating in the trap that’s unusual.”

This is the beginning for this lost dog. She will be promptly transported to the organization’s partner veterinarian, examined and treated. She will be on stray hold for two weeks and is not available for adoption at this time.
Good work team; another innocent victim of neglect has been rescued. Updates to follow.
